Christmas should be a time of joy and a celebration of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, for many people it is a time of year filled with financial worries, expectations and stress.
Late this fall we decided to make Christmas a little happier by giving donated, refurbished computer systems to those in Wheatland County who are struggling financially and don’t have a computer or who are struggling financially and could use a computer for their children.
We decided to do it anonymously, like a “Secret Santa”, so that the family (or individual) would only know they received a gift. If possible, we’d like to put the box on their doorstep, ring the doorbell and then get out of sight (while ensuring they answer the door and get their gift)…just like Santa!
How Can I Help?
We need YOU to let us know if there is a family or individual in your life who could really use a free computer. (i.e. They are struggling financially and need a computer for themselves or their children)
Please send us the following information we will need to know to NeedComputer@CountryRoadComputer.ca :
- The individual or family’s names so we can prepare a Christmas card for them to go with their computer—There will be no indication of who it is from including us.
- Their street address (They must be in Wheatland County) where the computer will be delivered to.
- A few words about the need.
What Happens Then?
Depending on demand we can’t promise everyone will get a computer but we’ll try. If there are more submissions than computers, we will select the recipients and notify you if the individual or family is selected. We will never contact the recipient–after all this is supposed to be a surprise gift!
On the evening of Christmas Eve, we will anonymously deliver the computer systems to their doorsteps.
To allow time for us to prepare and gift-package the computers, please let us know no later than December 15th. Again, all information is strictly held in confidence.
Extra Help
To help us cover the costs of adding WIFI to the computers (WIFI allows people to use their computer anywhere in the home without a long wire to their internet router), we would be very grateful for any donations to offset the cost. We have estimated a total cost of $200 to add WIFI to all the available machines. Even if we don’t give away all the computers this Christmas, they will still be given away throughout 2020 through our free computer program.
