Why Are We Doing This?
There are many people who are struggling in our society and the last thing on their list of purchases is a new computer. Likewise, there are many old computers that still have plenty of service life to offer doing basic tasks–word processing, web surfing, email, etc. Computers are such a fundamental part of day-to-day living that to be without one means isolation from opportunities (Like job postings, learning resources, e-communications, etc.).
Therefore, we aim to extend the usefulness of these older computers to benefit those who cannot afford a new machine–It’s a win-win for our society and for our environment.
p.s. Our program is modeled on the CLIC (Computers for Low Income Calgarians) program created by the Calgary Drop-in Center. Much of our program design is based on their information and we wish to extend our thanks to them.
